Bruce Hwy, broadband top Truss' wish list

NATIONALS Leader and Member for Wide Bay Warren Truss has nominated four-laning of the Bruce Hwy north of Cooroy and the delivery of high-speed broadband by 2016 as his key priorities ahead of a meeting with LNP candidates on the Sunshine Coast yesterday.

Ted O'Brien and Mal Brough invited Mr Truss, the shadow infrastructure and transport minister, to meet Sunshine Coast Business Council and Chamber of Commerce Alliance representatives to hear their priorities.

Mr Truss said a new government would have to negotiate a fresh five-year road and rail infrastructure agreement with the states by May or June of next year.

He said the Coalition was already committed to the Bruce Hwy upgrade north of Cooroy particularly because of road safety issues.

"I'm also conscious of the pressure to extend the Bruce Hwy north of Brisbane to the Sunshine Coast," he said.
