A WITNESS to the horrific Bruce Highway crash at Elimbah which sparked social media outrage has started up a fund to support the driver critically injured in the crash.

Paul Dossetto, who shared pictures and a video of the aftermath of the crash on Facebook, is hoping to raise $20,000 to help the family of the driver of the white Jeep caught up in the carnage.

Mr Dossetto, who lives in Carseldine on the northside of Brisbane, said the crash was a reminder to everyone to be ever vigilant.

"Warn your husbands, wives, kids and especially teenagers,'' he wrote in a post.

It's not just YOU that needs to be a good driver. The car who hit him also flew past us, on the wrong part of the road just before the crash.

"You need to know what people around you are doing.

"Eyes up, off your phones. You can be the best driver in the world. But this man who now has a fractured skull and  other injuries could have been you, or your partner, or child."

The driver of the other vehicle gave a tearful TV interview, apologising for her outburst after the crash, but denying she was responsible for the crash.

Tessa Roughsedge, 25, told Channel 9, she was sorry after she was filmed abusing witnesses to the carnage while still in her Nissan Patrol.

"I'm sorry, that's it.

"Like I didn't mean it.''

The 25-year-old was behind the wheel of a Nissan Patrol travelling northbound on the highway at Elimbah when it allegedly clipped a white Jeep, causing it to cross into oncoming sounthbound traffic.

The woman's car came to a stop in the middle of the highway's median strip but when witnesses stopped to help she became agitated and started yelling at them.

"Get the f***away … look at what you've f***ing done you idiot," she said to a man who approached her.
