Brief brush with the law

SNEAKING into a caravan's annex and stealing food from a fridge was just something to do, Jaye Logan Burkinshaw said in Gympie Magistrates Court on Monday.

Burkinshaw, 17, was seen walking around Rainbow Beach with two friends on the night of July 26, when a caravan park resident had foodstuffs stolen from his fridge.

When he heard the fridge door open in his annex, the man checked what was going on and saw three males walking away from his caravan.

He followed them and called police, and when officers questioned the trio, Burkinshaw said they were at the Caravan Park looking for a party where there might be some girls.

The food was found hidden along the fence at the front of the caravan park and Burkinshaw was charged with trespassing.

“I hope this brief brush with the law is enough to keep you in line,” Magistrate Maxine Baldwin said and placed Burkinshaw, of Kerenjon Avenue, Buderim, on a bond to be of good behaviour for six months.
