Tin Can Bay men's
FIRSTLY congratulations to Ross Lowrey who won the men's club singles at the weekend. He beat Ken Hammond in a close match 25-20. Ross is only a relatively newcomer to bowls and it was a popular win.
The winners on Wednesday were Peter Allars and Peter Fitzakerley with the winners of the losers Ray Lude and Wayne Hill. The winners on Saturday were visitors from Mermaid Beach Stan and Rhonda with the winner of the losers Bill O'Rourke and Peter Fitzakerley. On Wednesday, May 10 it will be club selected pairs and the normal three bowl nominated pairs each Saturday. The seven members to play in the Dodt Cup at Albert on May 13-14 will be selected this Wednesday and a sheet will be on the board in the next couple of days for a mixed game to be played on Sunday afternoon, May 28 with prizes donated by Ron Sollay our patron.
THERE will be plenty to talk about on the green today and we have something to show for it, the Gympie - Cooloola Shield that we won and brought back to Gympie on Sunday.
Cooloola Coast will have a chance to win it back when they play on our green on September 24.
Bill Wheeler, Graham Thomson and Glen Costin were happy with their win last Thursday trouncing the opposition 55 to 6.
The faithful dozen turned out for the May-Day game on Monday night and enjoyed the ideal conditions, the Monday format is good for anyone thinking of giving the game of bowls a go, everyone is made to feel welcome.

ANZAC Day was celebrated at the club with many bowlers and family helping Gloria Emery celebrate her 90th birthday.
The Emery family supplied the trophies for bowls with celebrant Gloria Emery and Shirley Noyes coming first.
The cake was supplied by Lorraine Emery and was enjoyed by all.
Rooster Pairs were played on Sunday however, no results are available.
Jackpot pairs is Thursday followed by bowls meeting.

TUESDAY, April 19 Men's Social Jackpot Pairs - winners on that day were Bill O'Rourke and Jeff Mulhall with the runners-up of Sue Pollitt and Aileen Barnett.
Jackpot is still there to be won next week.
Sunday, April 23, 56 bowlers attended the Anzac sponsored day that is always part of the club's calendar.
Allan and Bev Lydiate welcomed vets from various Wide Bay clubs to join in with our club bowlers for a great day of bowls.
Between bowls and raffles everyone who attended will put this day on their calendar for next year.

Thursday, April 27, Ladies Social. Mary Lucas and Cliff Shaw were the lucky winners on that day. More bowlers both ladies and men are needed to attend these days.
Super Saturday, April 29 - Sixteen players come together on the green to play their best bowls. As this was Sue Pollitt's last day with us it was very fitting that she was one of the winners on the day with her friend Brian Nicholas. Runners-up were Rod Ehrke and Aileen Barnett. Next Super Saturday will be played on May 20 starting time 10am. Names can be put on the sheet as you come in the door.
Sunday, April 30 - Cooloola Coast Bowls Club and the Gympie Bowls Club played to be able to get their name on the shield between these two clubs. With 40 bowlers the game was played in good spirits and plenty of rivalry was evident on the rinks. The end result of 114 - 90 went Gympie's way. When we meet again Cooloola will bring our big guns along. Congratulations to the Gympie juniors who attended and showed a lot of us how to play.
Club Championships results to hand - Ladies Singles - Sue Ramsay def Mary Lucas, Wendy Ryan def Alexi, Sue and Wendy will meet in the final. On April 26, Sue Ramsay and Wendy Ryan played in the Division Pairs at Imbil and were successful. The club congratulates them on their win. The Mixed Triples final has been played. Congratulations to the winners.
OUR next game is a visit from the Tin Can Bay club May 7. This day is the Albert Bowls Club's 70th birthday and we will join in to celebrate this occasion. Game starts at 1pm. Green fees will be free with nibblies following

THE Division Pairs were played last week. On Monday at Kandanga the winners of the sectional play were. Sec 1 M Christensen and R Benson. Sec 2 W Smith and L Gray. Sec 3 C Broadbent and R Perry. Sec 4 S Ramsay and W Ryan.
On Wednesday at Imbil W Smith and L Gray def M Christensen and R Benson by 1 shot and S Ramsay and W Ryan def C Broadbent and R Perry.
The final was between Wendy Smith and Lyn Gray Tin Can Bay and Sue Ramsay and Wendy Ryan from Cooloola Coast, with the Cooloola Coast team coming out winners. Congratulations to all who played and especially the winners. This week is the District Carnival at Tin Can Bay and also the District Sides played at the Gold Coast. I'm sure that we will do very well.
The Division Singles is next on the agenda with nominations closing on Tuesday, May 16, at Albert's Presidents Day and being played May 29 at Tin Can Bay and the finals Imbil.

ON SATURDAY at the Association Social, lucky door prizes were won by G Martin, B Lawrence, A Kenzler, G Portas. Raffle won by B Pearce.
First prize went to team K Nind, G Freshney, G Portas. 2nd was A Kenzler, W Young, G Nind. 3rd C Pearce, M Rigby, J Barnes.
Members are reminded to supply a plate of goodies for afternoon tea for Sunday Five Game Day as there will be at least 16 teams participating. Also more tombola prizes are needed. A working bee will be held at 8am Friday. On Tuesday night the Raffle was donated by P Tierney and won by D Tierney.
