Bowditch tees off tonight

PEREGIAN Beach's Steven Bowditch is scheduled to tee off tonight at the US PGA AT&T National at Aronimink Golf Club, Philadelphia.

He is one of 12 Australians at the $6.2 million tournament, which is being hosted by Tiger Woods, and has been paired in the afternoon round with Americans Michael Thompson and Joseph Bramlett.

Bowditch, 28, has missed the cut at the past two PGA events, including his last start two-over showing at the Travelers Championship.

Since regaining his tour card at the start of the year, Bowditch has made the cut nine times from 16 starts, finishing in the top 25 twice and the top 10 once.

The other Australians at the tournament are Marc Leishman, Adam Scott, Matt Jones, Geoff Ogilvy, Greg Chalmers, Robert Allenby, Nick O'Hern, Stuart Appleby, Rod Pampling, Michael Sim and Steve Elkington.

In women's golf, Sunshine Coast pair Katherine Hull and Sarah-Jane Smith have turned their attention to next week's US LPGA Open.

The tour has a break this weekend and resumes at the $3.25 million major.

Caloundra's Smith finished last weekend's Wegmans LPGA Championship in a share of 50th spot, on three-over, and Sunrise Beach's Hull ended tied for 59th despite being on track for a top-10 finish after the opening round.
