
Borumba dam fishing comp entries roll in
ENTRIES are rolling in for the Lions Club's second annual Mary Valley Family Fishing Classic.
Classic committee chairman Glenn Williams said yesterday the Lions Clubs of Gympie and the Mary Valley had decided this year to join forces to host the second annual classic at Lake Borumba near Imbil on November 2-3.
About 80 entrants lined up lsat year for a great weekend of fishing, camping, food, entertainment and prizes.
Mr Williams said that the lake was stocked with bass, golden perch, catfish, saratoga and silver perch by the Lake Borumba Fish Restocking Group which will assist at the weekend.
There will be a redclaw competition for the juniors 15 and under who can compete for the major prizes as well.
The Lions Clubs will set up a camp at the Lake Borumba Deer Park camping area and will be providing food, entertainment, licensed bar, lucky draws, raffle and prizes in an action-packed program over the two days.
The weekend will start on Friday night with a welcome campfire, barbecue and drinks. Fishing starts n Saturday morning and finishes on Sunday at noon to be followed by a prize-giving and lucky draws.
Saturday night will feature free live entertainment, lucky draws and food and drinks around the campfire. Meals will be available all weekend.
Mr Williams said: "We really want to see the families turn out for the weekend as there will be a lot of good outdoors fun with any funds raised going to Lions community projects."
