Meet your Division 7 candidates: Tony Hanlon
BORN in Gympie to a retailing father and a professional nursing sister mother, Tony Hanlon's formative years were lived on the Southside on 22ha, with mother, father and two brothers.
He attended Gympie South State School primary, progressing to Christian Brothers College, and finishing with a potpourri of tertiary institutions of DDIAE/USQ, QIT business management, accounting and computing.
He began a retail cadetship in 1970 with his father and twin brother.
The four-year cadetship ended with the passing of the senior partner.
"My wife Cheryl and I have been married for 38-plus years. We work together as a team in the retail environment and at our home at the Southside. We have one son who we moulded from the best parts of ourselves. He also works and lives in Gympie.
"The Gympie of my youth provided me with ample opportunity to play sport. After sport came community involvement: Gympie Lions, Gympie Show Society, Gympie Traders Association, Rotary Club, Gympie Chamber of Commerce, Gympie Aero Club (currently president)."
