THE Ridge is a chilling thriller full of twists that will keep you hooked until the last page.

Michael Koryta's latest book is set in Kentucky where an old lighthouse has cast its ghostly beam across the dark into the woods for generations.

The lighthouse keeper is a half crazy old man who people avoid.

But when he's found dead, local reporter Roy Darmus finds the walls of the lighthouse covered in maps bearing the names of the dead, including his own parents who were killed in a car accident.

He must convince everyone that an age-old legend has come to life, particularly the man investigating the lighthouse keeper's death, Deputy Sherriff Kevin Kimble.

Kimble is also facing ghosts from the past, with the death feeling somehow connected to his being shot years ago. When strange events start to put in place a domino effect Kimble doesn't realise how close he may be to putting his own life at risk.

Michael Koryta draws you into his unsettling world in The Ridge, a world full of unusual characters, including Audrey Clarke who lives with her menagerie of wild cats on a reserve close to the scene.

This is a tense, menacing story, full of atmosphere, plot twists and mystery.
