I HAVEN'T really commented on the Adam Goodes racism in sport furore mainly because I have been a bit confused about my feelings on the issue.

Personally I have never really been a fan of Goodes, not because of his skin colour, but mainly because I haven't warmed to him as a person.

That said, watching the continual booing of Goodes on the footy field has made me feel uneasy.

Along with the rest of Queensland, I admit I have booed Paul Gallen and a host of other NSW league players and it had me wondering why people booing Goodes made me feel bad.

It was Johnathan Thurtston's commentary that opened my eyes.

Thurston agreed that booing was part of the game and fans should be allowed to boo players at certain times during a match.

But repeated booing every time someone gets the ball in every game is a form of bullying.

The other thing is, Goodes thinks it's racially motivated.

Whether it is or isn't, doesn't really matter.

If it was our son or daughter being bullied on a sporting field, we would want it to stop.

It needs to.
