BMW owners targeted in armed car robberies

TWO men have targeted BMW owners in armed robberies around Helensvale and Robina yesterday afternoon.

The men have driven a black Mitsubishi Lancer sedan to a shopping centre carpark around 1:30pm where the passenger has approached a man who had just parked his BMW sedan.

He took out a knife and put the man in a headlock before demanding his keys.

The driver complied but the attacker was unable to start the car.

Both men in the black Mitsubishi drove off.

The BMW's 41-year-old driver was not physically injured.

The men in the black Mitsubishi have then gone to an address on Fairlight Ave around 2:15pm.

This time the passenger approached a woman who had just parked her BMW X3 with registration 981WCO in her garage.

The man has again taken out a knife and demanded the woman exit the vehicle.

She complied and he drove off.

The Mitsubishi followed.

The 43-year-old woman was not physically injured.

Police are still investigating.
