Blowers trio unstoppable on range

SHOOTING is a speciality of the Blowers family and very little stands in their way on the range.

Alain, Linda and Karla have shown their class by being selected to represent Australia in the Australasian Championships, to be held in Malaysia in October.

Linda is the current Australasian ladies champion after claiming the title in Thailand in 2007.

But the champion, who works for a law firm in Gympie, will be challenged by daughter Karla at the event.

Karla, a member of the Tiaro Pistol Club, went one up on her stepmother at the Practical Shooting Association of Queensland State Titles in Rockhampton last weekend.

The young talent has been shotting from the age of 11 and won the ladies champion title, denying Linda a chance to defend her title.

More than 85 shooters from across Queensland, and as far away as South Australia, took part in two days of centre fire competition, involving snap shooting at combinations of static and moving targets set up over 12 stages.

The Gold Coast was particularly well represented at the event.

The Blowers family will be hitting the practice range over the coming months to prepare themselves for the big stage in Malaysia and Kara, who only gains in strength, will be looking for a breakthrough result.
