'Bloody idiot' fined $800
A DRINK driver was told he was a “bloody idiot” when he appeared in Gympie Magistrates Court this week.
Steven Tribel, 48, had a blood alcohol concentration of .097 per cent when he drove on the Cunningham Highway near Aratula on April 3.
The Kybong man had been camping, and a disagreement with another camper led him to drive towards his brother’s place at Forest Lake.
“He couldn’t help thinking of the road safety campaign with the stamp across the forehead ‘bloody idiot’,” his lawyer Gene Visini said.
“You are a bloody idiot,” Magistrate Maxine Baldwin told Tribel. “Having a licence is a privilege and there are rules... If you break them, you lose the privilege of driving on the road.”
Tribel was disqualified from driving for four months and fined $800.
