GOLD Coast parents Jess and Ayden came away with a surprise win on The Block Triple Threat tonight.
All stars Deanne and Darren, who have been dominating the renovation competition, crashed and burned this week according to the reality show's judges.
The judges expected to be impressed after the on-going issues caused by Dea and Darren's floor plan changes, but the "goal post" columns made a bad first impression.
"This is a disaster," said Shaynna Blaze, who spent a day mentoring the couple.
"I'm really, really angry at how they treated me, how they dismissed the architect, how they dismissed Lang constructions, Keith, Daniel, everybody on this building site and I'm really livid at their arrogance of producing this average kitchen from what they put people through there."
Blaze also called their exposed butler's pantry "useless" and Neale Whitaker said the styling looked like the usually fastidious team had "thrown in the towel".
That opened up the field to the other three teams and Jess and Ayden's kitchen impressed with its personality and functional butler's pantry.
"It's full of personality; it's got a style," Whitaker said.
Despite a drama-filled week, Adelaide parents Tim and Anastasia received mostly positive feedback for their black cabinetry, double oven, slick range hood and bench with servery to the outdoor terrace.
"This kitchen definitely has the luxury of space," Whitaker said.
"Any potential buyer will walk in here and go 'wow this is amazing'... but for me this is still borderline kitchen showroom."
Young Sydney couple Josh and Charlotte played it too safe, delivering a white, sterile kitchen.
Despite cooking appliances and features that would cater to any serious cook, their room lacked the "wow factor".
"We keep going back to the elimination (rounds). It's so sad your (Josh and Charlotte's) peak was in the elimination," Blaze said.
Week 8 scores
