Black Friday brings higher crash risk
RACQ Insurance is urging Gympie motorists to take particular care on the roads today, Friday the 13th, as new research shows the last day of the working week is the most common for car crashes.
RACQ Insurance executive manager communications Mike Sopinski said an analysis of insurance claims data had identified Friday as the most likely day for motorists to have a crash, while accidents were least likely on a Sunday.
RACQ Insurance research showed single-vehicle car crashes were 17% more likely on Fridays.
The likelihood of being involved in a multi-vehicle crash on a Friday was 22% above the weekly average.
The most dangerous time on Friday was between 3pm and 7pm. And rainy Fridays were even worse, with RACQI's research showing the danger period extended from 3pm to 9pm.
