JUNGLE girl Bindi Irwin has gone on US celebrity TV show Entertainment Tonight, in her first joint interview with boyfriend Chandler Powell, telling the 19-year-old he is "kind of like my soulmate".
The couple are quizzed about their relationship, particularly how they face the spotlight.
Bindi said their pairing had been difficult because for most of the three years they have been together, they have been apart.
"It's challenging for us because our relationship has been long distance for a long time," Bindi said.
"I mean, we met three years ago now and people are always wondering whether we're engaged or married.
"No marriage in the kinda right now -- that's years and years away.
"I think you feel the same?"
A smiling Chandler says the pair are "enjoying the now, and enjoying being together".
The pair talk about their first meeting, and the fact that Powell has now joined Bindi on the Sunshine Coast, working alongside her at Australia Zoo.
After meeting Australia's favourite crocodile huntress, Chandler said he wanted to keep in touch but wasn't sure how to approach the idea. So obviously he wrote to Bindi's mother Terri.
"Mum gave the letter to me," Bindi said.
"And we stayed in touch ever since."
Chandler has now been putting in time at the Beerwah zoo, even helping to feed the crocs during the daily shows, which has led him to be compared to Bindi's iconic father Steve.
"He's doing some of the exact same things Bindi's dad Steve did," the ET host said, "including feeding the crocodiles and wrangling them for research".
Bindi said watching Chandler jump on the head of a 15-foot crocodile made her "so proud".
She also said that it was "a really big thing for me" when she first saw Chandler put on his Australia Zoo khakis.
"It was kind of one of those moments that was a real defining moment for me, because you know, it's only the people who are the closest to us that get their khakis," she said.
"So it was kind of like, this really big step," she added, telling Chandler: "I love seeing you in khaki now. It makes me so happy."
