GLADSTONE'S Whitney-Rae Freyling is making waves in the glamorous world of physique competitions.

The diminutive beauty is part of an Australian team of about 15 preparing to attend the INBA Natural Olympia competition in San Diego in November.

Ms Freyling, 24, has been competing in INBA bikini competitions for five years and winning titles for the last three years.

She competes within the bikini diva class, qualifying for her first overseas competition after success at Australian competitions in May.

Ms Freyling was named the 2014 INBA Tropix Open and Overall Champion and claimed fifth place in the 2014 INBA Brisbane Classic.

Ahead of the Natural Olympia competition, Ms Freyling will increase her training from an hour a day to two-and-a-half.

"For the competition we have preparation, so at the moment I'm trying to put on as much muscle as I can, I just listen to my coach, obviously we follow a very strict diet and closer to the competition lots of the food will get cut out so we can be toned, tight and lean," she said.

"Then all the preparation in terms of grooming, hair, bikini. There's a lot that people don't realise."

Ms Freyling is grateful that her employer ASN is helping sponsor her flights so she can compete at the Natural Olympia competition.

She will also be fundraising locally with barbecues and bikini car washes to make the trip possible.

Ms Freyling enjoys bikini competitions because it gives her the chance to be a "princess on stage".

"It helps me train a lot harder. It gives me a specific date to be ready for," she said.

After enjoying success early in her bodybuilding career, Ms Freyling is looking to keep making her mark in the industry.

"My ultimate goal would be to be on the INBA team and to actually judge others," she said.

"At the moment I'm teaching posing and deportment for the girls locally doing INBA so I'd love to be able to expand that."
