Big game for the Devils

THE Devils game against Maroochydore is an important one for both sides and promises some hard-hitting footy at Jack Stokes Oval.

Maroochydore trails the third-placed Devils by only a point on the ladder, so to win over the Devils will give them a much-needed bump up the ladder.

For the Devils, they need to stay on their winning roll so they can hunt down top contenders Kawana and Caboolture.

Coach Kris Kahler predicts the high-stakes match will be full-on.

"It should be a big game; it's a pretty important game for both us and Maroochydore," Kahler said.

"It should be pretty physical."

Kahler says the team can only move forward after last weekend's 64-0 slaying of Beerwah.

The Devils will be down Ben Ashford for the Maroochydore face-off, but Kahler says a strong team will front for the game today.

Billy Rogers and Adam Starr will be back on deck and will join former Canberra Raider Ben Jones.

Last week's try-scoring star on the field Dave Cutler will also be there in his number seven jersey.

Kahler said a win this week would be "perfect", as far as the Devils' plan of attack on the competition goes and expects a top performance his boys.

The action will be intensified by what is predicted to be big home crowd in support of the Devils.

Buses will leave the Gympie RSL Club Cup at 5.30pm and deliver Devils fans to Jack Stokes Oval.

Kahler says it will be good to see locals at the oval after a day at the track.

The action at Jack Stokes Oval kicks off about 4.45pm today when the Devils reserve grade play Maroochydore Swans.

It will be followed by an under-8s curtain raiser game before the A-graders take the field at 6.30pm.

Maroochydore's under-18s team forfeited its 3.30pm game against the Devils.
