Beautiful inside and out

WHEN Karen Winkel opened La Bella Wedding and Special Occasions Boutique she wanted to make women feel beautiful.

“It’s always been my life’s dream to start my own business,” she said.

“My cousin said it had always been my destiny.”

On June 1 she decided to take a punt on her Mary St location and opened her doors for the first time.

“I love it; it’s not just weddings,” Mrs Winkel said.

“Look around, there’s special occasion wear too.”

La Bella stocks everything from gowns for school formals to frocks for the races and party dresses. She custom makes hats and fascinators to match outfits – which is what she hopes to specialise in, creating a whole look.

“I love dressing a whole outfit.

“La Bella means beautiful girl. I want my clients to feel and look beautiful.

“You don’t have to go down the coast to get what you want. Try me first before leaving the region to shop.”

Mrs Winkel, who was born in Gympie, moved back to the area just over two years ago after travelling around Queensland with her husband.

“I’ve been all over the place and discovered Australia before I retired. My husband is a contract teacher, I did volunteer work – I’m actually a funeral celebrant.”

To find out what La Bella can offer you head to 29 Mary St (Suns arcade) or phone 5480 2502.
