Beach hall is complete
RAINBOW Beach residents and visitors will soon be able to enjoy the modern facilities at Rainbow Beach's new community hall and library building.
Gympie Regional Council yesterday announced the completion of the building, for which residents had spent many years lobbying.
Discussion, meetings and considerable planning by community representatives and the council saw the project get off the ground last year.
The hall and library was completed with funding from Gympie Council and the Federal Department of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development and Local Government, and round two of the Regional and Local Community Infrastructure Program.
Gympie region Mayor Ron Dyne said the new community space would provide "excellent facilities" for community interaction and sporting activities.
"The Rainbow Beach community has waited patiently for a facility such as this, a very significant community asset for the region, and I am extremely pleased that it has finally come to fruition," Cr Dyne said.
To celebrate the completion of the building, the official opening will take place onsite Friday, February 24 at 11am.
"Several people who played an integral part in transforming the vacant area into this fantastic community facility have been invited, but it is open to the public and will be a great opportunity to view the building," he said.
"This project will certainly have flow-on benefits."
