Basketball stars make Wide Bay

GYMPIE basketballers Hayden Tompkins, Mykaela Faulkner and Eli Geri have been selected in Wide Bay teams ready for the Queensland Titles.

The talented trio was picked for the Wide Bay representative side playing in Gympie Zone teams at the Wide Bay trials in Kingaroy last week.

Gympie sent two teams to the trials, a boys and a girls team, and competed against teams from the South Burnett, Hervey Bay, Bundaberg and Maryborough.

Supported by coaches Leith Brown from Chatsworth and Sue Young from Cooloola Christian College, the athletes played well to attract the eye of selectors.

The Queensland Titles will be held in Toowoomba May 27-30 and the state’s best primary school talent will be arriving ready to compete.

In addition to helping Wide Bay launch its attack on the title, up for grabs are positions in the Queensland team.
