Gympie artist named finalist in Sunshine Coast Art Prize

GYMPIE'S Kym Barrett (above) is one of 41 artists from across the nation to be named a finalist in the prestigious 2015 Sunshine Coast Art Prize two-dimensional category.

Finalists are vying to win a $15,000 cash prize and $5000 artist residency sponsored by Montville Country Cabins.

This year, the Highly Commended artist will receive a $5000 cash prize thanks to valued sponsors - the Proost De Deyne family.

The Sunshine Coast Art Prize 2015 award provides a distinguished contribution to the national arts calendar and culminates in an exhibition of the two-dimensional artworks at Caloundra Regional Gallery from August 20-October 11.
