Post Aussie Day barbie postponed again due to wet weather
A TOURING barbecue planned for this week, to inject life into Gympie's flood-hit business districts, has been postponed due to the wet weather.
The barbecue roadshow was expected to start tomorrow and culminate on Saturday with a shindig in Mary St in the morning and final celebrations at Nelson Reserve.
The change of plans will mean the Saturday events will launch the barbecue roadshow, which will follow next week, weather permitting.
Celebrations will start with free entertainment on the City Centre Stage in Mary St from 9am-midday with buskers performing through the street. A sausage sizzle will start at 10am.
The day will be capped with a second attempt at an Australia Day celebration.
There will be more free live entertainment from 3-6pm, and another sausage sizzle.
Sausage sizzles on the Saturday and following week will cost a gold coin donation, which will be given to the local SES and rural fire brigades.
Don't miss this Saturday's main event, which will include a jumping castle for the kids and a charity auction with popular auctioneer Graham Engeman holding court, 3.30-4.30pm.
This event is the result of a partnership between Gympie Regional Council, Gympie Chamber of Commerce and The Gympie Times.
Dates and locations for next week's barbecues will be published in The Gympie Times once they have been confirmed.
Show the Aussie spirit and head into town on Saturday for Australia Day Mark II.
