The Secret Whisper set for success

IT'S no secret that Gympie's home-grown talent The Secret Whisper is going places.

Members of the five-piece original indie rock band – brothers Billy (guitar) and Chris Stewart (bass), Tomi Rooney (guitar), Joel Forman (drums) and Jess Mincher (vocals and keyboard) – are stoked to announce the upcoming release of their debut album after less than two years together.

The Secret Whisper recently finished recording a six-track EP with upcoming producer Sonny Truelove. Through his connections, the album was sent to the United States to be mixed by renowned producer Michael Bassik who had also worked with big names like Incubus, Limp Bizkit, and Iggy Pop.

It's costing the independent artists a packet but they say the outcome will be worth it.

“When Michael confirmed he was going to mix our album we were over the moon,” Joel told The Gympie Times yesterday.

“He's great at what he does – he's won grammys for his work.”

The EP has a working title of Young Love and is set for release in February next year. Joel said the songs chosen for the album reflected the bands collaborative creation, influences and emotions. “We all hope the future for the band holds endless shows and touring,” he said.
