Cantle is back in the saddle

FORMER Queensland and Australian eventing champion Brett Cantle has made a successful return to the competition scene in recent weeks.

Cantle combined with the warm blood gelding Arnage Rhapsody to win classes at both Maryborough and Cooloola Dressage days.

The pair backed this up with a resounding win at the Fraser Coast One Day Event, in the introductory class.

Eventing is the Olympic sport which combines the three disciplines of dressage, cross country and showjumping. Australia is one of the leading nations in the world, having picked up three golds and a silver at the past five Olympics.

Cantle, a level 1 instructor, was a member of the Queensland Elite squad for many years.

After having several years out of the sport with a young family, he now has his sights firmly set on returning to the highest level.

“It is impossible to compete at highest level unless you have an outstanding horse underneath you, and Arnage Warm Blood Stud really is using the best genetics in the world in their breeding program, so working with them gives me every chance,” he said.

Arnage Rhapsody, or ‘Rhappy’ as he is affectionately known, is showing some good early signs with a win from start to finish at his most recent event.

Winning is in his pedigree, his grandsire Olympic Ferro was Olympic silver medallist.
