The Bachelorette: Clancy eliminated after awkward group date

GEORGIA Love sent a tongue-tied Clancy Ryan packing on The Bachelorette tonight as the reality dating show enters its final weeks.

The Brisbane-based medical sales rep admitted he was a bit awkward on the group date, during which the six remaining bachelors wooed Ms Love via pensioner stand-ins.

"I don't think it was my finest moment," Ryan told APN.

"The cameras never bothered me and I was always very natural but when we had to speak through these old guys to Georgia, while watching on a monitor, for some reason she'd ask a question and I'd have nothing. I felt really awkward. It was embarrassing; I just didn't have much to say."

The 29-year-old made a memorable first impression on Ms Love when he allowed her to shave off his beard in the show's first episode.

He also made a splash when he jumped in the mansion's pool fully clothed in a bet with Courtney, destroying $5000 worth of audio equipment in the process.

"I ran to the shower to get changed afterwards and the sound guy came up and he looked at me and was like 'red card mate'," he said.

"Then as I was getting prepared for the rose ceremony the head of Warner Bros came down and gave me a handshake and said 'it awesome'. I said 'sorry about the mic' and he said 'we don't care about the mic'."

Ryan said his time on the dating show has helped him to talk more openly about his feelings, but he refused to reveal if he's still single since returning home.

"I'm just getting my teeth stuck back into work, but in terms of my love life, although it sounds a bit stupid, I am a bit private," he said.

He hopes his good mates Matty J and Jake make it to the grand final, though Lee and Courtney are the current front runners according to online bookmaker SportsBet.

"It's a race to develop a connection as quickly as possible... the guys are getting more serious now."

The Bachelorette continues on Wednesday at 7.30pm on Channel 10.
