Awards night recognises our vital SES volunteers

meri, Gympie, Tin Can Bay, Glastonbury and Kenilworth were among those recognised for dedication to their community at an awards ceremony in the Gympie Civic Centre last weekend.

Queensland Fire and Emergency Services Assistant Commissioner for North Coast Region John Bolger presented awards, including the prestigious North Coast Region Unit or Group of the Year, Operational Response of the Year and SES Member of the Year.

Certificates of Appreciation and Outstanding Service from the Queensland Police Service were also presented during the ceremony in recognition of outstanding support provided by the SES to police in conducting a forensic search at Toolara Forest involving more than 100 SES volunteers from the region.

SES Week awards also were presented to volunteers who displayed exceptional dedication to their SES units/groups and communities.

Local volunteers who

received the SES Week Certificates were Pamella Reis (Goomeri SES Group), Ray Morsch (Goomeri SES Group) and Donna Douglas (Tin Can Bay SES Group).National Medals and Clasps and Meritorious Service Medals and Clasps (for 10, 15, 20, 25, 30 and 35 years) were presented to several SES volunteers for their numerous years of service.

Recipients included:

15 years National Medal: June Fuller (Goomeri SES Group) and Alan Ing (Childers SES Group).

25 years National Medal 1st Clasp: June Fuller (Goomeri SES Group).

10 years Meritorious Service Medal: Gregory Flem-ing (Kenilworth SES Group), Phyllis Hopf (Goomeri SES Group), Jeff Kit-chen (Tewantin SES Group), Bill Perdikis (Southside SES Group) and Simon Slattery (Kenilworth SES Group).

15 years Meritorious Service Clasp: June Fuller (Goomeri SES Group).

35 years Meritorious Service Clasp: Mark Wilson (Glastonbury SES Group).
