Australia open with a win
QUEENSLAND Reds flanker Liam Gill and his Australian under-20 teammates made an immediate impact in the IRB Junior World Championship in South Africa.
Gill, the Aussie captain, led his team to a crushing 67-12 win over Scotland in their opening pool game.
The Australians scored 11 tries to two, including six in the first half, to start the tournament in impressive fashion.
Despite the result, coach David Nucifora said there was still work to be done before the young Aussies played Argentina on Friday.
"It's a good start, but there's plenty to work on," the two-time Wallabies representative said.
"We're still not happy with our defence, so we need to work on that to ensure everyone is on the same page."
