Australia Day recognition for region’s finest

STAFF and volunteers from the Department of Community Safety (DCS) will be recognised for their exceptional commitment to emergency and corrective services today.

Each year, the Department awards Australia Day Achievement Medallions to staff and volunteers who have made a significant contribution to service delivery across the Queensland Fire and Rescue Service (QFRS), Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS), Emergency Management Queensland (EMQ), Queensland Corrective Services (QCS) and the Department's administrative divisions.

Appreciation Certificates are also presented to external organisations and individuals who have provided significant support to the Department, as well as employers who are accommodating of auxiliary staff and volunteers required to respond to emergency service callouts.

Today's ceremony for Gympie takes place at the Gympie Civic Centre, in Mellor St, from 10am.
