Aussie NBA star hit by hamstring injury

BASKETBALL: A hamstring injury has put Andrew Bogut's NBA season on hold again.

The 32-year-old has had an in-out campaign in his first year at the Dallas Mavericks.

He missed 11 games in December with a knee injury, limping off twice since his return at the end of last month.

The Boomers centre picked up his latest injury - a strain to his right hamstring - in his team's nine-point loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Dallas coach Rick Carlisle said the injury wasn't too serious but said he was unsure just how long Bogut would be missing from the Mavericks' line-up.

"He's probably out for the foreseeable near future,” he said.

"We don't consider this serious.

"But we want to make sure that he's not only feeling good, but he's got (to have) his legs under him a little bit before we put him back out there.

"We don't want to mess around with this.”

Bogut switched to Dallas from the Golden State Warriors in the NBA off-season.

The 213cm big man caused a stir last week, claiming comments he made on a Sydney radio show were taken out of context to imply he wanted out of the struggling club.
