Aussie golfer Scott off to shaky start in Match Play Champs

AUSTRALIAN Adam Scott had a tough start when the WGC-Accenture Match Play Championships got under way in Tucson, Arizona today.

Scott took on South African Tim Clark in his first game at the tournament which brings together the top 64 players in the world.

World No.1 Rory McIlroy, Tiger Woods, 2010 champion Ian Poulter and 2011 winner Luke Donald are in the field and if Scott gets past Clark, he could have to play Poulter and Donald.

But the Aussie's record since the event moved to the Arizona desert in 2007 is poor, never progressing beyond the second round.

John Senden is also in the same bracket and plays American Bo Van Pelt.

Jason Day drew former Masters champion Zach Johnson in the first round and, if he survives, could come up against South African Charl Schwartzel.
