Audit clears Kepnock Grove home
A COMPANY that operates nine aged care facilities in Queensland says it has been cleared of wrongdoing after audits by a Federal Government body.
The audits were sparked by reports in The Australian last month which claimed residents at the Kepnock Grove facility were subjected to abuse and neglect.
The reports accused the facility of underfeeding, poor management of health complaints and patients assaulting other patients.
Carinity CEO Jon Campbell said after the "unprecedented audit blitz" the Australian Aged Care Quality Agency had released its final reports to them - though they have not yet been made public - on a number of the company's facilities.
He told the NewsMail yesterday the report on Carinity's Kepnock Grove aged care community in Bundaberg found the home compliant with 42 of the 44 Aged Care Quality Outcomes.
"Carinity has already rectified these issues," he said about the two areas where problems were found.
The NewsMail understands they related to pain management of patients.
"No finding of serious risk to residents was made."
Mr Campbell said Carinity had always acknowledged there were legitimate concerns at Kepnock Grove as a result of a previous management regime last year.
"Carinity identified the problems and acted immediately to fix them in December," he said,
Mr Campbell said the report's findings clearly indicated there were no widespread issues or risks to residents at the Kepnock Grover facility.
