Arrows flying at successful shoot

GYMPIE Field Archers has ensured its right on target in the new year following a successful invitational shoot a fortnight ago.

Nearly 80 competitors from regions including Bundaberg, Hervey Bay and Gladstone converged on the club, keen to establish form for the season ahead.

Gympie Field Archers spokesman Russell Carlson said the competition was a complete success after a number of Gympie competitors won trophies.

“It was a good weekend and the members enjoyed the chance to test themselves,” he said.

While there was plenty of action on the shooting range, participants enjoyed the chance to socialise in between events.

“Most competitors camped overnight on the club round and were suitably catered for,” said Rachelle Jarratt, who is the publicity officer for the club.

Both days of the shoot involved a three arrow and a one arrow shoot.

Meanwhile, a number of fun events were also staged for variety, including running pig, the steel pig and the V shoot.

“All age groups from seniors to juniors enjoyed the entire weekend of archery,” Jarratt said.
