Arna’s joyous arrival a thrill for family

WEDNESDAY welcomed a new bouncing baby girl to the Volker and Sterling family.

Proud parents Chloe Volker and James Sterling were blessed with all 4.14 kilos of baby Arna Rose at 9.14am.

Ms Volker said she was prepped and ready for the birth.

"At one of the last scans a couple of weeks ago they told us she wouldn't breach and that I'd need to have a C-section," she said. "We had this date booked in so there wasn't a rush to get to the hospital.

"At 4.14kg she was really big for my first so it was good to get her out at 39 weeks because she would've been huge at full term."

Ms Volker and baby are settling in well but its Mr Sterling who is feeling the full effects.

"James said to me, he now knows what sleep deprived means," she laughed.

Friends and family, some from all the way down in NSW, have visited the trio with balloons, flowers and a whole lot of cuddles.

"She's the second grandchild in both families so very spoilt," Ms Volker said.

"They've been calling her Sumo, but hopefully the nickname doesn't stay."

The Tannum Sands couple gave Arna the middle name of Rose because Ms Volker wants her daughter to blossom into a lovely young lady.

The best part about being a new mum was her new found emotions, she said.

"They say you find a new level of love and it's true," she said.

And how could you not when the couple said friends have recognised that she is the perfect mix of both of their features.

The couple have been together for two years and are heading home today to settle back into normal home life, with Arna's room decked out in pink.
