Argument ends with stabbing on train trip, say police

AN argument between strangers on a train has ended with a 40-year-old man being stabbed.

Police believe two men were arguing while heading to the Gold Coast on Monday when at 8pm they began arguing.

A 23-year-old man walked to another carriage, police say, when he was followed by the 40-year-old who then kicked the younger man's helmet.

It was then that the 23-year-old allegedly stabbed him.

He has now been charged with unlawful wounding after police arrested him near Coomera station.

The 40-year-old man was taken to Gold Coast University Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The man from Oxenford has been charged with one count each of unlawful wounding, possess dangerous drugs and possess utensil.

He is scheduled to appear in the Southport Magistrates Court on October 17.
