Apprentice support.

As part of the federal budget, apprentices will no longer get the Tools for your Trade money after the 30th June . I believe this is a retrograde step in not giving our future tradespeople a helping hand when they need it most. They are employed on minimal wages which allows employers the chance to train them without the impost of hiring a qualified person. If the are not given the assistance to help the buy their tools, which are expensive, employers will see no advantage in hiring them.
Even with existing apprentices who are currently under contract will stop receiving the incentive from July on. So an apprentice that has been signed up at the start of this year will receive only $800. I believe this would be a breach of contract. Lets be real & help our next generation of tradespeople with the start they need. Is this government that shortsighted?
