Santa Fair a washout

THE annual Apex Santa Fair has been abandoned for this year after rain washed the event out on Saturday but the bright side is the cubby house draw has been extended.

The cubby house will now be drawn on Friday, December 10, at 10am.

To enter simply colour in the cubby house coupon that has been appearing in The Gympie Times over the last few weeks put it and your details in an envelope and drop it into The Gympie Times office, 197 Mary Street, Gympie by 10am Friday.

Santa Fair organiser Wayne Dean yesterday said that it would not be possible to reconvene the annual event and for this year the Santa Fair was now finished.

He said many hours had been put in by volunteers organising the event but it was just too difficult to try to run on another day as most of those involved in the event were fully committed until after Christmas.

“We nearly called the whole event off last Thursday night after the rain pelted down that day but decided to press ahead,” he said.

“Friday looked all right until late in the day and we pressed ahead but on Saturday morning the heavy rain came and that was the end of it.”

“We’ll still do the cubby house give away and the good news is you don’t have to be present at the draw to win now,” Mr Dean said.
