Apex in sexism dispute

A SOCIAL media spat over gender is tarnishing the great reputation of Gympie Apex.

Gympie Apex is one of the best known clubs in Australia.

It is the club that brings us the Gympie Muster and has raised millions of dollars for charity around Australia.

Unfortunately the club has struggled for members over the past couple of years making it harder for them to source volunteers for the iconic event.

The club has recently opened up its doors to women to help boost numbers.

While wives of members have always been heavily involved in the Muster they have never been allowed to join the club.

The problem for the club is the first woman who asked to join, Kristy Herrod, has been knocked back via a vote.

I don't think the club is sexist but I don't think the move to knock back a seemingly hard working woman is a smart one either. Especially when they are in such dire need of support.
