Amamoor speed limit complaints

COMPLAINTS that a new 40kmh speed zone at Amamoor cannot be enforced have been received by Gympie Regional Council.

The 40kmh zone is just over 500m long, and council design services manager Ross Chapman told a recent works and services committee meeting the minimum length of a 40kmh zone was 400m.

Mr Chapman said the installation of unenforceable signage was ineffective, but it might act as a deterrent to speeding.

Imbil police have told the council that 100m in each direction of a speed zone could be enforced and they would continue periodic patrols in the area.
