'Dangerous prisoner' held in custody following rape charge

A MAN released last year on a dangerous prisoner supervision order has lost his freedom again after being charged with raping a 31-year-old woman near the Wacol train station on Saturday.

The 36-year-old man was remanded in custody after allegations came before Brisbane Supreme Court yesterday that he breached a 10-year community-based supervision order.

He was released in May, 2011, on the order - which was made under the Dangerous Prisoners (Sexual Offenders) Act - but had been in and out of custody for alleged contravention breaches.

The Crown applied to keep the man - who had been living at the Wacol precinct - in custody until the breach hearing was finalised later this year.

The man will face Richlands Magistrates Court in March.
