All set for Aus Day breakfast

JEANETTE Worbington hopes this year's Australia Day barbecue breakfast at her house will be a great day, considering last year it was cancelled due to the floods.

For about six years the Worbingtons, Rod and Jeanette, have been hosting Australia Day celebrations at their Kybong property to help raise money for Little Haven Palliative Care.

"I hope a lot of people will come along and support Little Haven, they do such a fantastic job. We all hope one day that we won't have to use Little Haven but we never know, what they do for the terminally ill and their families is great," Mrs Worbington said.

She started hosting the event, which was originally in town, after Little Haven's Business Manager Sue Manton saw her 28 acre property.

"She said it would be beautiful to hold it here."

That was about seven years ago, when she first started volunteering with the organisation and the couple have been doing it ever since.

She started volunteering for something to do after the Worbingtons sold their shop in town.

"I quite enjoy it. I've met so many lovely friends through Little Haven, what we do here for one day helps so many people when they are terminally ill. I really enjoy doing this, even though I do it all year, this is our thing towards Little Haven. We're always quite happy to have it (Australia Day) here."

But last year the floods cut access to the Lobwein Rd home.

"We were hemmed in for about three days," she said, "but we were fine we had plenty of food."

Mr Worbington has started getting stuck into his tropical gardens to have them in top shape for Aussie Day and he is practising his moves with the barbeque.

He always cooks the bacon, sausages and eggs with about three other volunteers. There will also be damper, fruit, cereal and plenty of other tasty items.

As well as a delicious big buffet breakfast, you will be entertained with music, bush poetry, games and trivia.
