Albert Park grounds over-used

GYMPIE’S Albert Park is too popular for its own good, Gympie Regional Council was told this week.

Works’ employee Greg Ingham told the Works and Services Committee the park was being over-utilised and that more recreational activities needed to be diverted to other facilities, such as the One Mile and Jack Stokes’ sports fields.

Councillor Ian Petersen described the issue as “a real balancing act” between the Albert Park lessee, the Gympie Recreation Association, which needed to raise funds from sub-letting the fields, and the ongoing good condition of the grounds.
