Aglow to celebrate 35 years in Gympie
GYMPIE Aglow celebrates 35 years in Gympie tomorrow.
The milestone will be marked with a simple thanksgiving from 11am-1pm at the City Centre Stage in Mary St.
Aglow president Faye Roots said the event would be small celebration with a cake and sandwiches to be shared with the public.
Mrs Roots said a vision allowed the "birth" of Aglow in the lives of four women overseas 40 years ago.
"These women from four vastly different Christian denominations met for prayer," she said.
"Now in 187 nations, Aglow unites, men, women, young people and children, every tribe tongue and race in one common light for kindness, love and hope in a darkening world.
"Aglow International now joins men and women in all areas of Christian ministry including the discovery and eradicating of drug and human trafficking.
"Small Aglow groups are found in all nations including Israel, Saudi Arabia, Syria , Egypt, India and Pakistan and Aglow Australia has close liaisons with far east Russia, Papua New Guinea and all the Pacific Islands.
"We are Christians with one united light of hope moving in floods, disasters and human sorrow where there are no denominational walls or barriers yet working absolutely with the established church.
"We are members of a worldwide team with little branches everywhere."
