Dockers who could help deliver Hogan

A YOUNG Victorian-born Docker could be part of a Jesse Hogan trade to help satisfy Melbourne's demands for losing the star key forward, according to senior foxfooty.com.au reporter Tom Morris.

Hogan is one of several big named hoping to find a new AFL home on Wednesday on what looms as a frantic final day of the AFL trade period.

If trade proceedings go to script and Fremantle receives Pick 5 from Brisbane in exchange for Lachie Neale on Wednesday, the Dockers are then set to use that selection to send to the Demons in order to acquire Hogan.

Fairfax Media reported on Tuesday night that Pick 23 - a selection the Demons had already asked for, as well as Pick 30 - could also be used as part of the Hogan deal.

But Morris told Fox Footy's The Trade Lowdown that one of four young Dockers - possibly Luke Ryan, Ed Langdon, Adam Cerra and Andrew Brayshaw - could be sent to Melbourne too.

"I just wonder whether a player's going to become involved as well," Morris told The Trade Lowdown.

"We're not suggesting any of these players are on the way out or want to leave Freo at this point. But they're four young Victorians at the Dockers that might play a part in a Hogan deal if they request or if Melbourne requests one of them.

"You've got Luke Ryan, Ed Langdon, Adam Cerra, Andrew Brayshaw - four very talented players.

"But I question whether the Fremantle Dockers will actually want to get rid of them at all. I doubt they will but these players are certainly talented and Melbourne would love to have them."

Both Brayshaw and Cerra, Picks 2 and 5 in last year's national draft, are contracted to the Dockers until 2021, while Langdon and Ryan are out of contract at the end of 2019 and 2020 respectively.

But Saints great Leigh Montagna said the Dockers shouldn't have to give up one of their emerging midfielders in any Hogan trade.

"I don't think Fremantle can afford to give away one of their young gun midfielders. If Lachie Neale leaves, they're already going to be thin in the midfield as it is," Montagna told The Trade Lowdown.

"I can't see them offering up any of these youngsters to get Jesse Hogan into the football club. It just won't happen. I think Fremantle should hold their fire. They're all young players."
