Sunshine Mwy crash causes traffic queues

UPDATE: A man in his late 40s has been hospitalised after a three-car crash on the Sunshine Mwy.

Eastbound traffic past the Sippy Downs scene was reduced to one lane and stopped while tow truck drivers retrieved the stricken vehicles.

Drivers queued back towards the Bruce Hwy and tried to avoid the scene by taking the Dixon Rd exit.

A Queensland Ambulance Service spokeswoman said the injured man was in a stable condition suffering from back pain when he was taken to Nambour General Hospital.

Paramedics assessed another adult as well as some children at the scene but they did not require hospitalisation.

The eastbound lanes of the motorway were reopened to traffic at 4.51pm.
