Adopting the Christmas spirit

WITH the festive season fast approaching, it’s time to spread the Christmas spirit and lend a helping hand to families in need.

The Adopt-A-Family for Christmas appeal, is an APN Australian Publishing initiative.

It involves local charities, provides donations to struggling families during one of the toughest times of the year.

Many families in need of adoption face serious financial hardship or social dislocation, often through no fault of their own.

With about 50 families of all ages and sizes in need of help this year, The Gympie Times is calling on its readers as well as local clubs, schools and businesses to provide donations.

Items can include toiletries, gift vouchers, children’s toys, children’s books and non-perishable goods.

Adopt-a-family co-ordinator Deb Rowlands said people could donate as little or as much as they wanted.
