ADAM Brand is opening a new chapter of not only his singing career, but his life.

The country music star has moved into his new home on the southern end of the Gold Coast and signed with a new record label, ABC.

"I felt like it was a time to start a new chapter in my life, a bit of a fresh start," he said.

"I'm feeling pretty positive about it. I go in the studio in a few weeks."

That's to work on his next album, My Acoustic Diary.

"I'm going to be going through all the songs from my very first album right up to the recent one," Brand said.

"There are some songs there that are quite pivotal, even though it may not have been a single or a hit, but for me it meant something."

He said the album will reflect the early forms many of his songs take as he writes them.

"Most of them were written on a couch in someone's lounge room," he said.

"I definitely want it to be that kind or organic feeling, just like we're sitting around with a cuppa in the lounge room, probably in our jammies."

Brand is also working his next new studio album, which he promises will be "pretty rocking".

"Albums tend to go with your life. If you're going through stuff in your life, then the album a lot of times will reflect it," he said.

"My last couple albums were really loved up, very emotional albums; (it was) very much ripping open the chest and showing this bleeding heart, you know what I mean?

"The last album was very heavy on the emotional side and a little light on the fun. The next album going to be heavy on the fun and a little lighter on the emotional stuff, so it's going to be party time."

He headlined the Main Stage at the Gympie Muster last night, playing his biggest hits from a career spanning 15 years and nine albums.

It's an event he's performed at nearly as many times, and he fondly remembers his first show at the Crow Bar 14 years ago.

"Oh I remember it very clearly," he said.

"It was like arriving in a new world - an alien planet almost - driving through those gates and not knowing what to expect and then just this city appearing."

The Gympie Muster continues today with sets by Troy Cassar-Daley, James Blundell and McAlister Kemp.

The Mavericks and Jimmy Barnes play on Saturday, and the festival closes on Sunday with an all-star tribute to Slim Dusty.
