Tony Abbott praises Warren Truss

IF A week is a long time in politics, Warren Truss's 25 years representing the Wide Bay electorate must seem like forever, especially after his earlier career in local government.

But Prime Minister Tony Abbott says he would be grateful for another quarter century from the man he said had "changed our country for the better."

"I'll be looking forward to the next 25 years," Mr Abbott told Mr Truss at the Kybong Hall yesterday.

Mr Truss (pictured) was not so sure about another 25 years, but said he was keeping his options open about staying in politics just a little longer.

"A more decent, honourable and upright man you would not meet in any Australian parliament," Mr Abbott said.
