First pic: Mooy’s gruesome gash likely to keep him out weeks

LOOK away now anyone who is squeamish.

Socceroos star Aaron Mooy has revealed the extent of his knee injury after being stretchered off in Huddersfield's win over Bournemouth, and it's not pretty.

The sight of Australia's midfielder receiving five minutes of treatment on his left knee after colliding with Lewis Cook sparked huge World Cup fears, with manager David Wagner later confirming it was just a deep cut.

Now Mooy has posted a photo of the actual injury, which required almost 10 stitches right above his knee cap.

While there is no ligament damage to the Aussie, the Huddersfield Examiner reports the injury will keep Mooy sidelined for "a number of weeks", keeping him out an FA Cup fifth round tie against Manchester United and potentially crucial Premier League clashes with West Brom and Tottenham.

It comes after Wagner previously spoke of Mooy's fatigue after a busy December and January schedule which culminated in the 27-year-old being benched for the start of Huddersfield's loss to Manchester United.

Mooy later went on to play 120 minutes and played a part in three goals as Huddesrfield beat Birmingham in the FA Cup midweek. The former Western Sydney Wanderers and Melbourne City star then provided two assists in a strong performance against Bournemouth before his injury on 72 minutes.

If Mooy is to be kept out of actual for a number of weeks, he will be fit to play for Bert van Marwijk's Socceroos in March friendlies with Norway and Colombia.
