A first for Music Muster

AS the 2011 Optus Gympie Music Muster gets underway, Gympie's Stephanie Ward-Wrigley is preparing a record-breaking performance on the Main Stage today.

At just 13-years-old, Stephanie is the youngest solo artist invited to perform at the Gympie Muster in its 30-year history. It is believed Keith Urban and Kasey Chambers were younger when they made their debut performances however, both had backing from their bands.

Stephanie's astonishing vocal ability saw her awarded the Under 13 vocalist of the year in the 2011 Australian Capital Country Music Association's National Talent Quest, at Tamworth in January.

Last year Stephanie won the Under 13 female vocals category in the Queensland Champion of Champions after earning a place with winning performances at a number of regional talent competitions.

It was this major achievement that earned her a spot on the Main Stage at this year's Gympie Muster.

At such a young age, Stephanie is already a Muster Maton Talent Search veteran, having first competed in 2007 and every year since. Such is her level of talent that she has also made the Queensland Champion of Champions every year since 2007.

One of her proudest moments so far has been singing the National Anthem at this year's Gympie Show. But Stephanie reckons performing on the Main Stage, at 1.20pm today, will blow that out of the water.
