A FAMILY of five is without a home or most of their possessions after a blaze destroyed their Biddeston farm house.

Queensland Fire and Emergency Services were called to the blaze in Walsh's Rd, outside Biddeston, just before 6pm on Saturday and arrived to find it engulfed in flames.

By 7.15pm the roof had fallen in and the family home completely collapsed just after 8pm despite firefighters' efforts.

The family escaped the fire without injury.

The community is rallying behind the family in the wake of the blaze, with plenty of offers for assistance coming via The Chronicle's Facebook page.

Biddeston resident Heidi Kruger helped to focus the appeal, commenting that a drop-off point for donations had been arranged at the Biddeston State School.

She said the family was staying at the home of the children's grandparents while they recovered from the tragic incident, but they would be in need of simple items like clothing in the short term.

"If you would like to help donations are being taken to Biddeston School (today)," she wrote.

"There is a five and four-year-old boy and two-year-old girl. Lady size 16-plus and man two or 3XL."

She said she wasn't completely certain of the children's sizes, but estimated they would match the ages as none of them were particularly tall.

The call-out for help was taken up by readers keen to find out ways they could help.

A Queensland Fire and Emergency Services spokesman said the cause of the fire was still under investigation.
